Maren Sauer was born in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany, and grew up in Zurich, Switzerland. She began her dance training in 2004 at Atelier Rainbow Tanzkunst and continued her education at Danse Marina Grandjean and the MDC Academy. After successfully completing a vocational apprenticeship as a goldsmith (EFZ), she pursued a degree in Contemporary Dance at the Zurich University of the Arts, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 2023.

During the 2022/23 season, Maren was an apprentice with the dance ensemble at Theater Münster under the direction of Lillian Stillwell. She returned the following season as a guest artist and worked as a freelance dancer with companies such as the Nunzio Impellizzeri Dance Company and FLOCK, directed by Florian Lochner and Alice Klock. She also gained experience as a choreographic assistant at the Zurich Opera House.

In addition to her performance work, Maren is actively involved in dance education and outreach through Danse Suisse, where she contributes to the national dance calendar and supports platforms for professional opportunities within the dance field. In 2024, she completed her certification as a Pilates Mat Instructor.

Maren has performed in works by Nadav Zelner, Joost Vrouenraets, Ihsan Rustem, Antonin Rioche, Muhammed Kaltuk, Lida Ouroubei, Seh Yun Kim, Craig Davidson, Ashley Wright, among others.
